The prime focus of the novel is on the changes in the lifestyle of the author and the Iranian people because of the Islamic revolution of Iran in In the s, Marjane Satrapis Persepolis: An Analysis this young girl was writing her holy book to start her religion, her country, Iran, was going through the Islamic Revolution or the Iranian Revolution. The Islamic republic that emerged as the product of the revolution was full of extremist ideologies. There were a lot of changes in the life of the Iranian people; but for Marji, the only things that changed were that she now had to wear a veil each time she stepped outside her home and that her parents were now engaged in a lot of public demonstrations to oppose the new regime. Since everybody was protesting against the new rule, Marji decided to put aside her prophetic destiny and started protesting with her friends in her house garden. Her behavior makes her parents fear for her life and so they decide to send Marji to Austria at the age of The 4 years of her life in Vienna did not go exactly how she had expected.
Despite all the freedom, Marji found it very difficult to get accustomed to life in Case Summary.
Marji was involved in drugs, lived on the streets, and finally decided to return to Iran to her family. Marji decided to get her life back on track after returning home. She admitted herself in the art university in Tehran.
But, because of the constant religious policing and restriction on freedom of expression, her art was confined. The novel ends with Marji going back to Europe inleaving her family behind.
Marjane Satrapi has managed to focus on the various socials and political issues and has presented them in a very simple yet impactful manner. Her way of presentation is precise, effective, and humorous.
