This would surely get downvoted if I posted it anywhere else. As a woman studying International relations, I've never been quite appalled at the amount of discouragement and sexist comments of women in politics.
I've had comments aimed at me in person, as well as come across posts daily on Reddit and other social networking sites that constantly discredit the work of women as a whole - specifically because they're female. I never really recognized this issue in society until really recently. It was when I became an Feminnism Relations student, suddenly my gender meant everything - especially to the countless guys in my classes. I never realized how hard, and discouraging it is to express interest in a career field of politics if you are female.
