Coronary Artery Disease Case Study - seems excellent
Major finding: Patients with rosacea were significantly more likely than matched control subjects to have dyslipidemia OR, 1. Data source: A nationwide population-based case-control study in Taiwan involving 33, people with rosacea and 67, age-and gender-matched control subjects treated in Hua and associates reported having no financial conflicts of interest. Rosacea, characterized by central facial erythema, visible blood vessels, papules, and pustules, is considered to be a chronic inflammatory disease even though its precise pathophysiology is not yet understood. A recent small study suggested that patients with rosacea might be at higher than average risk for cardiovascular diseases. Occupational stress is correlated with CHD for the Uygur population. Introduction Stress is prevalent in modern life, especially since occupational stress has been a mental health problem common to most people in modern society. Everyone living in the modern society has to face complex interpersonal relationship and stressful social environment every day. It has been reported that occupational stress has become an important risk factor for decreased work ability, increasing absenteeism rate, and increasing incidence of occupational injury, as well as the primary potential cause or inducement factor of some diseases of workers [ 2 ]. Therefore, in addition to the traditional risk factors, occupational stress, as a potential risk factor for CHD, has attracted more and more attention from domestic and foreign scholars. After the standardization of occupational stress assessment methods, there are more and more researches in this field. Most studies suggest that occupational stress increases the risk of CHD. In , the American Heart Association identified social factors as complementing traditional risk factors for cardiovascular diseases such as CHD [ 4 ]. Northwestern China is a multiethnic area; different ethnic groups have different living habits and eating styles, especially in Xinjiang.LinkedIn Adult height is highly heritable, yet no genetic predictor has demonstrated clinical utility compared to mid-parental height. To develop a polygenic risk score for adult height and evaluate its clinical utility.
Standing height was measured using stadiometer; Standing height two standard deviations below the sex-specific population average was considered as short stature. Combined with sex, a polygenic risk score captured Combining this polygenic risk score with mid-parental height, or only one of the child's parent's height, could improve the AUROC to at most 0. The polygenic risk score could also substitute mid-parental height in age-specific Khamis-Roche height predictors and achieve an equally strong discriminative power in identifying children with a short stature in adulthood.
A polygenic risk score could be considered as an alternative or adjunct to mid-parental height to improve screening for children at risk of developing short stature in adulthood in European ancestry populations.]
