Suspense In The Shining - consider, that
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. Eric Henderson considers this to be a horror film masterpiece. I, myself, consider this to be one of the best, if not the absolute best, horror movie that I have scene, and horror is probably my favorite category of movies. This movie is done so well, and does such a great job as creating suspense and making some really scary scenes. The loneliness and isolation of the hotel, as well as mysterious powers that reside in the hotel and the man, start to drive him insane. The man's son also has some of these mystical powers, but he doesn't get turned insane by them. What follows is a climatic scene where the man chases his family all around the hotel and then outside, trying to murder them with an axe, in what is a really intense few scenes. If you aren't spooked at this point in the film, you must have nerves of steel or just be immune to anything scary, because it really is terrifying. The film has great style, and its main charm is how it builds suspense so easily, by showing how the man starts to go insane, and by not explaining how the weird and magical powers that the kid has, only makes the film more crazy. Suspense In The ShiningCan we survive the winter or do we succumb to the darkness within?
