Job Description The Role Here at Heartland we have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic and capable Veterinary Surgeons to join our wonderful team. The normal working day varies greatly depending on the workload and the time of the year. All our vets work with all species, on the farm side that involves mainly beef cattle and sheep although there is some pig work and occasionally deer work. There is also a steady stream of equine work. So, on some days you might spend all day in the clinic with domestic pets and other days all day on farm and equine calls and very often a mixture of the two. Our consulting times are roughly between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. We work a 1 in 5 on call rota so you would work one night in 5 Monday to Thursday and then 1 weekend in 5 Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. The rota is currently arranged so that the vet who works at the weekend gets the following Friday off work. New graduates and less experienced vets are supported by a colleague as necessary when on call.
