Hockey is approaching a state of crisis in Canada. It's become more expensive, more exclusive, and effectively off-limits to huge swaths of the potential sports-loving population. Youth registration numbers are stagnant; efforts to appeal to new Canadians are often grim at best; the game, increasingly, does not resemble the country of which it's for so long been an integral part. As a lifelong hockey fan and father of a young mixed-race son falling headlong in love with the game, Sean Fitz-Gerald wanted to get to the roots of these issues. His entry point: a season with the Peterborough Petes, a storied OHL team far from its former glory in a once-emblematic Canadian city that is finding itself on the wrong side of the country's changing demographics. I'll admit it: I was straight-up wrong about the format, as the development team unexpectedly overhauled it in a fairly significant way for the first time in several HUT iterations. Suddenly, we had a major influx of players from the North American minor and European pro leagues making TOTS teams to help EA cater more to the big European market that plays our behated game.

All skaters for both the NHL North American and European squads 3 forwards, 2 defensemen, 1 goalie were comprised of players I had on top lines somewhere on one of my projected teams. I'd like to think I'm good with the Google but the other leagues' stat leaders can be tough to locate. Like him or not, the NHL's brightest young star, and while we have more than enough high-end versions, it would make no sense not to acknowledge him here.
