The Pros and Cons of Living During Ever Winter
This tale of revenge, love, and loss, narrated by Triger Stevens, is a gripping tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Cons: 1. Sometimes you have to eat dead people to stay alive seriously, like the first 10 minutes of the story has them eating a dead guy they found. Every adult except for your parents is a giant creep who wants to marry your pre-teen sisters. Basically, living during Ever Winter would be a hard pass from me.
Of course all of these points, even the cons, are what make this book so compelling. And, gosh, was I rooting for Henry. He was dealt a pretty terrible hand. All I wanted was for him to get revenge on the King and his lackeys and make them pay.
Spoiler Alert and Trigger Warnings
It was always a good little break from Henry. Overall, I would recommend this audiobook. The only warnings I would make are included below in the Spoiler Alert section. There are some trigger warnings for this story.
Only one of them really bugged me enough to make the story lose a star. Given the world Henry was living in, it made sense. But it put a damper on the whole story for me, and is why I only gave the book 4 stars. TW 2: Child death- Not violent or graphic, but sad.]
