This year, we at The Shalom Center suggest three ways of enriching the celebration of Yom Kippur so as to encourage new connections between the Jewish community and other communities and the Earth itself — sharing our deepest values and our highest visions for the healing and transformation of our world toward what Martin Luther King called the Beloved Community. Are we acting to prevent those in power from torturing and killing people on our streets and in our prisons? Are we making sure that the innocent are not imprisoned and that no one is executed? Have we boxed these here into remembering them by rote? To bring the Spirit breathing fresh in every moment?]
