From the time period we can tell there are still racial tensions. We learn that almost all the people in maycomb county are part of the KKK. Scout begins the novel as a six year old girl who does not fully recognise how skewed her world is until she is nine and sees what it really means to kill a mockingbird due to the actions of a shy Arthur Radley. Atticus is a lawyer who was born and raised in Maycomb County. He still lives there with his children, Jeremy also known as Jem and Jean Louise also known as Scout. Only a year after being published the American classic novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in fiction as well as the Brotherhood Award of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. To kill a mockingbird means to destroy innocence. The theme of my literary analysis is mockingbirds.My four siblings and I lived with our folks in an old farmhouse atop a hill.

We can only wonder what Charles thought when he saw his father come home after a long day at work. Why, as an adult, would he write such a poignant lament? Of working for just a paycheck sometimes very large ones and not for an enriching life that is meaningful to them; of living a life not full of integrity.]
